Exhibition "Nizhny Novgorod Khokhloma"
About exhibition
The exhibition presents a retrospective of the work of Nikolai Gushchin — one of the most prominent masters of Khokhloma painting. The display includes works from different years: from traditional tableware and furniture to decorative panels. The master virtuously masters all types of painting, but above all he values the "travka" (grass) — the main ornament of the Semin craft. His works are marked by a unique Koverninsky touch, a decorative palette and dynamic compositions. Under his brush, ornaments that combine flowers, leaves and grasses are born easily and naturally. Nikolai Gushchin was born in 1961 in the Koverninsky District. He graduated from the Gorodets Pedagogical College and the Moscow Art Correspondence Pedagogical Institute. He has participated in numerous exhibitions and has conducted master classes in China, Spain, the United Kingdom and other countries. His activity is aimed at preserving this unique craft and introducing young people to the art of Khokhloma.
