About exhibition

The exhibition presents folk costume as a structure of the ancestors' worldview, introducing the dressing traditions in Rus' and the differences in garments and headwear between the Russian provinces. Visitors can also see authentic historical items and reconstructions created by skilled artisans. The collection of costumes of the Russian provinces from the 19th to the early 20th century was made by Kostroma artist Margarita Yefimovna Artamonova. 140 dolls will demonstrate the features of traditional folk costume and reveal its secrets.
