The exhibition presents a large-scale display that reveals the history of the district through the powerful metaphor of a river as the flow of time. Arranged along a single chronological timeline, the exhibition showcases unique artifacts spanning periods from the Paleozoic sea with its fossils to a stone knife of early humans, and onward to the era of heavy industry, represented by a shipbuilding plant and the architectural complex of a Moscow Canal lock. The exhibition includes diverse witnesses of the eras: natural objects, elements of historical architecture, residents' personal belongings, archival documents, and audio and photographic chronicles. Special attention is paid to how waterways shaped daily life — from ancient settlements and the influx of Old Believers in the 18th century to the development of crafts and the work of artists drawn to the picturesque landscapes. A separate section is devoted to the fates of creative figures connected to these places, including the poet Lada Mogilyanskaya and the painter Vasily Vereshchagin.
