Museum collections are the backbone of any museum. Most of them are usually kept in storage facilities not accessible to visitors. The mission of the exhibition hall 'Museum of Museums' is to show the general public the diversity and scale of the cultural values that employees of the state museums of the Kurgan Region have assembled over 70 years. The exhibition features the finest museum collections of the Kurgan Regional Museum of Local Lore and the Kurgan Regional Art Museum named after G. A. Travnikov. These include archaeology, artistic casting, icons, samovars, bells, clocks, porcelain, and furniture. Familiarity with the collections provides a clear picture of the history and culture of the Trans-Urals. Many exhibits were donated to the museums by Kurgan families; other items were purchased as having historical and cultural value.
