The exhibition will introduce the public to the museum’s collection of porcelain and faience items. This collection has been assembled at the Rostov Kremlin from the museum’s founding in 1883 to the present day. The collection was supplemented in various ways: a significant number of items were received as gifts or purchased by the museum. It now includes more than two thousand items from the 18th–20th centuries: dinner and tea services, individual pieces from sets, and small-scale sculptures. The collection’s geographic scope is very wide — there are examples of Eastern porcelain (Chinese and Japanese). Porcelain factories of Western Europe and Russia are also represented — both pre-revolutionary and Soviet-era. Almost the entire collection is displayed in the exhibition, which is therefore organized as open storage. Thus the collection in all its diversity is presented to both the general public and specialists.
