The exhibition reveals the history of Belozersky Land as a territory 11 centuries old. In a single visit you can see fossils from the Permian period, prehistoric hunting and fishing tools, 19th-century interior items, models of 17 churches, including the wooden Church of Elijah the Prophet, and a model of the 15th-century Belozersk fortress. Here you can learn about the participation of Belozersk residents in the Battle of Kulikovo and the War of 1812, the First World War and the Great Patriotic War (World War II), and about combat operations in Afghanistan and Chechnya. The exhibition also tells the story of the creation of the Mariinsk water system and the Volga–Baltic route. Visitors can try being an archaeologist, try on armor, learn to tie nautical knots, plot a course on navigational charts and take the helm of an improvised wheel, as well as try to make fire by prehistoric methods or dress up as a 19th-century townsman.
