Exhibition "The World of the Russian Village"
About exhibition
An interactive ethnographic exhibition that explores topics such as the traditional festive culture of the Russian people, the layout and everyday life of the Russian izba (peasant house), traditional Russian costume, male and female crafts, and the working life of the Russian village is based on a unique collection of household items from the late 19th–early 20th centuries assembled by Serpukhov collector A. P. Murtsev. You will have the opportunity to closely examine objects made by the hands of your great-grandmothers and great-grandfathers, hear about methods of decoration and the ritual significance of household items, and their connection with folk beliefs about the surrounding world. You will also become acquainted with the folk calendar — work routines, traditional holidays, and rituals.
