Exhibition «The World of Folk Culture»
About exhibition
The exhibition features more than 800 authentic items of folk culture that tell the story of male and female crafts and trades, family and domestic rites and festivities, and a rich collection of traditional costumes. Each theme reflects the most important milestones in a person’s life from birth to death. The exhibition is arranged using interior-style displays that convey a complete sense of the peasants’ way of life. The museum display also includes interactive modules: a cart with antique children’s toys that any visitor can play with, a touch-sensitive play table, and a 2D virtual fitting room for peasant costumes. Special attention has been paid to the design of the museum stage, where traditional folk forms and multimedia means are organically combined. The stage set is executed as a carved terem, with a ten-meter radial screen in its upper part and an installation titled “Khorovod” (Round Dance) composed of traditional Belgorod costumes presented below.
