Exhibition 'Mikhail Shibanov. Russian Theme'
About exhibition
The core of the exhibition is formed by genre paintings by Mikhail Shibanov from the collection of the State Tretyakov Gallery: 'Peasant Dinner' and 'Celebration of the Wedding Contract', painted in the village of Tatarovo in Suzdal Uyezd in the second half of the 18th century. Scenes of peasant life are illustrated by costumes and household items of peasants from Vladimir Governorate from the collection of the Vladimir-Suzdal Museum-Reserve. These include unique silk wedding coverlets, kokoshniks, sarafans, traditional sleeveless jackets, spinning wheels, antique furniture and household utensils — more than 90 rare exhibits. A striking addition to the exhibition is historical reconstructions of costume ensembles created on the basis of Mikhail Shibanov's paintings.
