Exhibition 'Masters of Ural Realism'

The exhibition includes works by Ural artists created over roughly a century, presenting art of the Soviet period with the specifics of its genre and thematic preferences, as well as works from recent decades. Viewers' attention will be drawn to genre painting of the 1950s–1970s. Four compositions — by Lyudmila Sgibneva, Viktor Zinov, Vasily Dyachkov, and Alexander Yurkin — are devoted to the theme of childhood, popular in Soviet painting. The theme of labor is well represented. A large canvas by Alexander Burak, "Smelting Completed", is dedicated to the foundry workers of Uralmash; the theme of agricultural labor is represented by Oleg Berngard's "In the Arduous Season. The Harvest Is Finished"; the construction of the blast furnace at the Nizhny Tagil Metallurgical Combine is shown in Leonid Kolmakov's industrial landscape "The Motherland's Order — Blast Furnace No. 6"; and the road workers are depicted in Gennady Krapivin's lyrical "Lilac in Bloom". The portrait genre is represented by works of Herman Melentyev, Pavel Voinkov, Grigory Necheukhin, Vladimir Igoshev, and Evgeny Pinaev.
