A jubilee exhibition dedicated to the work of Ulyanovsk watercolorist Anatoly Ivanovich Katorgin. The artist, a graduate of the Fine Arts and Graphics Faculty of the Omsk Pedagogical Institute and a teacher of drawing, painting, and composition at the fine arts department of Ulyanovsk Pedagogical School No. 1, captured in his works the beauty of his native region and the country's unique landscapes. Anatoly Ivanovich Katorgin masterfully conveys the atmospheric light and the emotional state of nature in watercolor. His works are distinguished by a deep understanding of the Russian landscape tradition and a unique coloristic approach. Among the artist's favorite sites are the landscapes of the Podkamennaya Tunguska, the Semiverstny rapids of the Sisima (a tributary of the Yenisei), and the Karsunsky District of the Ulyanovsk region with its chalk hills. The exhibition presents 45 watercolor works created during travels across Russia. The exhibition comprises three thematic sections: "From Travels in the Far East" with landscapes of Kamchatka (Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, the Zheltovskaya Sopka volcano) and the Kuril Islands (Shumshu Island, Paramushir Island); "Holy Places of Russia" with views of the Tobolsk Kremlin, the church in the village of Prislonikha, the Spaso-Ascension Cathedral and the Annunciation Church; and "My Ulyanovsk" with works dedicated to the Volga and his hometown.
