Exhibition 'The Magic of the Blade'
About exhibition
In the Main Building of the Museum of the History of the Far East, the exhibition 'The Magic of the Blade' is on display. The museum's collection of cold weapons covers a wide range of time periods and geographic areas. As a center of transit trade, Vladivostok has, since its founding, received ships from all over the world at its piers. The city bears the marks of revolutions, military intervention, and wars. Additionally, situated at the extreme southeastern point of the Eurasian continent, Vladivostok has absorbed the cultures of Asian and European peoples. The collection began taking shape at the end of the 19th century. Its origins lie with members of the Society for the Study of the Amur Region, officers of the Siberian Military Flotilla, scientists, explorers, and public figures. Subsequently the collection was supplemented by residents of Primorsky Krai and Vladivostok who found cold weapons in the attics and cellars of old houses. Individual items were transferred to the museum by the State Historical Museum and the Vladivostok Customs Service. For more details, see the website.
