Exhibition 'Leo Tolstoy. War and Peace. Pages Come to Life'
About exhibition
The State Museum of L. N. Tolstoy presents a new exhibition, created using modern multimedia technologies, dedicated to the great novel 'War and Peace.' The technical capabilities of the new century will help immerse visitors in the artistic world of the 19th century as described by L. N. Tolstoy in the novel. The exhibition concept was developed and implemented by the creative studio 'MuseumMedia' of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation A. N. Konov. For more than 20 years the team under A. N. Konov's leadership has been creating permanent exhibitions and displays, continuing the traditions established in national museum design. The main themes of the exhibitions produced by the studio are national history and outstanding people: military leaders, writers, painters, and figures from the theatrical and literary world. The pavilion's three halls are thematically divided into 13 sections, each linked in meaning to a specific episode of the work and supplemented with relevant quotations, exhibits, and audio and video materials. The exhibition's structure is intended to reveal to visitors not only the content of the novel but also L. N. Tolstoy's philosophical views, as well as to tell about the characteristics of the era, the world of the Russian nobility, and the military campaign of the early 19th century. Key moments of the story and the novel's main characters come to life through the multimedia technologies used in arranging the exhibition space. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn dance steps by following a couple on a large screen and to play antique card games. In the hall dedicated to the novel's military theme, guests will be able to trace the course of the Battle of Borodino on interactive maps and answer questions about the commanders Kutuzov and Napoleon. The exhibition also includes interactive tasks aimed at studying the novel and the era it describes. The pavilion will feature an art space where visitors can watch 3D films about the life and work of L. N. Tolstoy, create animated projects based on the novel, and take part in literary evenings.
