Exhibition "Is It Easy to Be Young?"
About exhibition
The 20th century is unique; for Russia it became a time of radical transformations during which the country changed not only its political system but its entire civilizational model. In the space of one century it passed through three fundamentally different stages: the era of the Russian Empire, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, and the Russian Federation, each of which left a deep imprint on the collective memory. The exhibition project demonstrates youth culture and worldviews of the three eras of that century, showing how fashion evolved in response to the environment and social conditions. Garments worn by young men and women from different decades are presented, and the exhibition also explores the main themes of leisure and socialization of young people during the Soviet period: the mass construction of cinemas, the opening of Model Houses, the participation of young people in the 6th World Festival of Youth and Students, etc. "Is It Easy to Be Young?" is the project's title and the answer to a question that visitors will find for themselves after viewing the exhibition. The exhibition is complemented by a collection of fragrances associated with the eras. Until July 6 a vintage GAZ M-1 car is displayed on the museum grounds, and every visitor can take souvenir photographs.
