About exhibition
The exhibition features a weaving loom, tools, and antique pile rugs woven by contemporary masters. Unique accessories created using weaving techniques and decorative items are on display. In the Bashkir language, 'kuskar' (ҡусҡар) means 'snail'. The name refers to an element of Bashkir ornament that resembles a snail-shell spiral. The elements are combined into compositions, and each has its own name. Visitors can discover complete ornamental works and learn to recognize the familiar 'ҡусҡар' in the most unexpected places. The purpose of the exhibition is to preserve and popularize the traditional and contemporary art of weaving and to draw attention to the traditional crafts of the Bashkir people.
