Exhibition "The Akchurin Merchant Dynasty: Times and Fates"
About exhibition
Akchurins were prominent Tatar merchants and manufacturers not only in the Simbirsk region but also in the Volga region and the Cis‑Urals in the second half of the 19th — early 20th centuries. They were one of the wealthiest merchant families of Simbirsk and the governorate, having made their fortune in the wool trade and later expanding it through cloth production. Members of the Akchurin dynasty were also active in promoting education among the Tatar people and in broad philanthropy, leaving a notable mark on history. The Akchurin family produced prominent state and public figures, specialists in industry and economics, scientists, writers, journalists, artists, and archaeologists. The exhibition is a partnership project. The display includes original pieces of furniture that belonged to the Akchurin family, photographs and documents from the collections of the Museum‑Reserve "Homeland of V. I. Lenin" and the school of the urban‑type settlement Starotimoshkino in Baryshsky District, as well as copies of documents from the State Archive of the Ulyanovsk Region.
