Exhibition "The Crimean Casket"
About exhibition
Visitors are presented with a collection of jewelry from the holdings of the Crimean Ethnographic Museum. The items in this collection are works of art, serve as amulets, and attest to the owner's material wealth, family and social status, and age. The jewelry, together with other elements of costume—especially women's—forms a single stylistic ensemble of dress, giving it artistic completeness and national color. Among the items on display are ornaments of Crimean Tatars, Armenians, Bulgarians, and Greeks: women's belts, fez finials, earrings, brooches, necklaces, and rings from the 18th to the early 20th century, made of precious metals.
