Exhibition 'Turn the Wheels'
About exhibition
In the second half of the 20th century a wide range of technical toys was produced in the USSR. Their creation involved not only technologists and artists, but also educators, methodologists and pediatricians. Soviet toys were intended to contribute to a child's development and learning. The exhibition presents technical toys from the 1960s-1980s. Among the exhibits are models of passenger and cargo cars, a water truck, a milk tanker and special vans for transporting food products. Special-purpose vehicles hold a separate place: fire and police vehicles and an ambulance. Construction machinery is well represented: a concrete mixer, a dump truck, a crane and an excavator. One section of the exhibition showcases toy military equipment: mortars, tanks and rocket launchers. The exhibition also includes 'household' toys: a sewing machine, an electric stove, an iron and a vacuum cleaner. Most of the exhibits are made of plastic - a popular material for toy production at that time.
