Exhibition "Krugomorsky Tract"

About exhibition

The exhibition acquaints visitors with the history of the construction of the Siberian (Krugomorsky) Tract. Across the territory of the present-day Shelekhovsky District, the route passed through the villages of Vvedenshchina, Moty, Olkha and the settlement of Bolshaya Glubokaya. These settlements still exist today. In 1805 a road was built from Irkutsk to Kyakhta. The distance was 394 versts (1 verst = 1,067 m) and it became a bonanza for Siberian merchants trading in silk, tea and marine mammal furs. The exhibition features photographs, documents, household items and ethnographic objects that tell the history of the settlements of Shelekhovsky District.
