Exhibition "Beauty Begets Kindness"
About exhibition
Mari traditional embroidery is one of the oldest types of handicraft. Girls were taught to embroider from the age of six or seven, because by the time they married they had to prepare their own dowry: an embroidered dress, a shirt for her future husband, ritual towels (rushnyky) and other items. Mari embroidery is a complex form of decorative and applied art. It comprises several embroidery techniques: slanting stitches, painting, counted satin stitch, and the "nabor" stitch. As a result, the items are extraordinarily beautiful. You can see this at the exhibition, and those who wish will be able to purchase souvenirs incorporating traditional Mari embroidery.
