Exhibition "Krasin"
About exhibition
The icebreaker Krasin symbolizes an entire era in Russia's history. Launched in 1917, it weathered all the storms and tempests of the 20th century: the Civil War, World War I and World War II, and participated in numerous Arctic expeditions. Krasin is the only surviving Russian ship that took part in the Arctic convoys. Today the icebreaker is rightly regarded as one of Saint Petersburg's most unusual and popular museums. The ship houses permanent historical exhibitions and temporary displays. The ship's historical tours include exhibitions such as "Pages of History" (the story of the icebreaker's construction and the fate of Russia's first Arctic-class icebreakers), the "wardroom", the captain's and expedition leader's cabins, and the wheelhouse and navigation bridge. The exhibition spaces display authentic items from the museum's collection: ship equipment, navigation instruments from different generations, memorial items belonging to crew members and notable guests of the icebreaker, documents and photographic archives.
