The exhibition project 'Kostroma Artists. 1960s–2010s' allows visitors to leaf through some pages of the history of Kostroma's artistic culture and to become acquainted with 26 artists whose lives and creative paths are connected with Kostroma. Among them are both those still living and those whose works have already become part of the heritage. The exhibition features just over 50 works of painting, graphic art, sculpture, and art objects. The Municipal Art Gallery of the city of Kostroma was established in 1996. The core of its collection comprises works by Russian artists from the second half of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century. The bulk of the collection consists of works by Kostroma artists of various stylistic directions. They represent different generations and periods of Kostroma's artistic life, from the 1960s to the present day. They are united by the freedom of creative self-expression, the search for an individual visual language, an interest in issues of aesthetics and form-making, and a resistance to any kind of opportunism.
