About exhibition

G. I. Shelekhov was a Russian merchant and entrepreneur, an explorer of the northern part of the Pacific Ocean, whose main achievement was the founding of permanent Russian settlements on Kodiak Island and the northwest coast of North America; the incorporation of the Aleutian Islands and Alaska into Russia. The museum has created a unique exhibition space, "The Traveler's Cabinet of G. I. Shelekhov", where visitors can admire samples of 18th–19th century furniture, a collection of 18th–19th century tableware and glass, lithographs, engravings, nautical maps, navigation instruments, copies of documents, books, and travel diaries of Siberians, travelers, and explorers.
