Exhibition 'Collection of the Tomsk Museum of Wooden Architecture'
About exhibition
Visitors to the museum are invited on a journey into the history of old Tomsk. In the house of the well-known early 20th-century architect Andrey Kryachkov, guests will see the finest examples of unique 'wooden lace', learn about the tradition of Russian carpentry, and feel pride in the skill of Tomsk cabinetmakers. The exhibition comprises four sections: 'Tomsk House Carving' — fragments of old houses, mainly window surrounds, pilasters, cornices and other examples; 'Cast-Iron Stoveware' — ornately decorated cast-iron stove plates with a century-old history; 'Russian Izba' — a reconstruction of life in a wooden house, including kitchen and household utensils; and the 'Collection of Carpentry Tools'. The exhibition will appeal to anyone interested in the history of Siberia, local history, and wooden architecture. More information about the exhibition is available on the website.
