Exhibition "Artistic Silver Collection"
About exhibition
As part of the centenary celebration of the National Museum of the Republic of Adygea, an exhibition project will be presented about the rich collection of precious metals and stones held in the museum’s collections. The collection contains about 3,000 items of jewelry art. Its chronological range spans from the mid-4th millennium BC to the early 21st century. The exhibition will feature one of the significant sections of the precious metals collection — its ethnographic part: national women's belts, breastplates, clothing ornaments (amulet containers, shoulder ornaments), men's belts, gazyri (cartridge holders), and cold weapons, all distinguished by delicate silversmithing. The collection allows one to trace the history of the main types of jewelry, establish continuity in the formation of their various forms, and reveal stages of the diverse interaction between two raw materials — gold and silver — over the last five millennia. The displayed items will give visitors the opportunity to see the high skill of jewelers, Circassian and Dagestani craftsmen, the variety of ornamentation, the degree of workmanship, and the beauty and precision of the designs.
