Exhibition 'Princess Tarakanova'

About exhibition

The cultural and educational project 'Meeting with a Single Painting' was organized in cooperation with the Penza Regional Art Gallery named after K.A. Savitsky. As part of this event a copy of the famous painting 'Princess Tarakanova' is displayed — the best-known work of Russian painter Konstantin Flavitsky, for which he was awarded the title of professor of historical painting. The painting's subject is the legend of Tarakanova's death during the flood in Saint Petersburg on 21 September 1777. The painting is accompanied by the video film 'The Mystery of an Old Painting', which recounts details from the artist's life and the history of the work's creation.
