Exhibition "Cossack Chamber"
About exhibition
The Historical and Local Lore Museum of the town of Belaya Kalitva has opened the "Cossack Chamber" exhibition. At the exhibition, residents of Belaya Kalitva and visitors to the district can learn about the distinctive Cossack culture and local traditions. Authentic household items from the distant and more recent past are on display. The chamber's interior is a virtual bridge between centuries. It precisely shows what a Cossack room looked like 100, 200, and 300 years ago, and many of the items on display can still be seen today in the homes of stanitsa residents. A hanging baby cradle (zybka), a kitchen cupboard (postav), a willow-woven étagère and baskets (sapetki), wooden chests decorated and banded with metal, massive mirrors in carved frames, kitchenware, household items, weapons and Cossack costumes — all these exhibits will arouse lively interest among visitors. Museum staff look forward to welcoming guests to the Cossack Chamber.
