The exhibition tells the story of the settlement of the region by the Cossacks and of the Cossacks' participation in the wars of the 19th–20th centuries. The display includes antique furniture, books, photographs, medals, tableware, and unique materials related to Cossack saints – Venerable Arsenia of Ust‑Medveditskaya and Hieromartyr Nikolai Popov. In addition, the exhibition vividly reflects the everyday life and traditions of the Cossacks. In the hall the interior of a bright Cossack chamber and traditional household quarters has been recreated. The collection of Cossack clothing deserves a special mention. Cossack costumes have always been very authentic and distinctive. On display are original Cossack uniforms, everyday clothing of the Don Cossacks, a genuine rarity – the wedding costumes of a Cossack and a Cossack woman – and a chest with a beautifully handmade girl's trousseau (late 19th – early 20th century).
