Exhibition "From Beijing to Moscow: A Dialogue of Cultures"

About exhibition

The State Tretyakov Gallery presents the international exhibition project "From Beijing to Moscow: A Dialogue of Cultures" (Chinese: 心之所向: 中国国家博物馆藏14–19世纪中国书画艺术). This large-scale exhibition of painting and calligraphy was prepared jointly with the National Museum of China and is timed to the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and China, as well as to the successful completion of the cross Years of Culture between the two countries. The exhibition goes beyond a traditional chronological approach and focuses on three key aspects: the creator, the connoisseur, and the practical application of art. This perspective allows the social context of the works’ creation to be revealed and helps bridge the gap between different aesthetic systems. The focus is on the Ming and Qing dynasties (14th–19th centuries) as the high point of Chinese painting and calligraphy. The exhibition presents 91 items from the collection of the National Museum of China: scrolls, albums, fans, and other works that demonstrate not only technical mastery but also the lifestyles of various social groups. The exhibition will be held at Lavrushinsky Lane, 10, halls 49–54.
