About exhibition
In the historic hall of the «Center of Arts. Moscow» battle and historical paintings from private collections are kept. The exhibition presents canvases by Russian, German and English masters, among them V. P. Villevalde, A. V. Villevalde, Ludwig Elscholz, Adolf Charlemagne, Otto Gustav Schwarz, George Dawe, Karl Friedrich Schulz, Heinrich von Mayr, N. E. Sverchkov, Georges Becker, A. P. Schwabe, N. S. Samokish, A. I. Gebens. A significant portion of the canvases is devoted to the Patriotic War of 1812 and the Russian army’s foreign campaigns. Many works belong not only to historical and battle painting but also to the equestrian genre, since they depict horses. The works come from the collections of imperial palaces or the collections of Russian sovereigns.
