Exhibition 'Stories of the General's House and Its Inhabitants'
About exhibition
The Museum of Izhevsk is located in an old building known as the General's House. Before the advent of Soviet power, it was home to the heads of the arms factory, most of whom held the rank of general. In the 20th century the building housed various institutions: a Communists' club, a school, and an ambulance station. The histories of the house and all its inhabitants, who succeeded one another in the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries, are presented in the museum's permanent exhibition on the second floor. The rooms display not only authentic household items and furniture, but also works by contemporary Izhevsk artists reflecting on the past of the house and the city. In the video room you can watch and listen to interviews with people whose lives were connected to the house in the 20th century.
