Exhibition «Historical Topography of Pskov in the 16th–17th Centuries»
About exhibition
The Pskov Museum has a large collection of objects from the 16th–17th centuries that will be used to create the exhibition. Most of them are held in the archaeology collection; items from the weapons, numismatics, and precious metals collections will also be used. Since the exhibition is located in an authentic 17th-century historical interior, its authenticity must be preserved as much as possible. To this end, the amount of modern equipment will be minimized, and by reconstructing the 'urban environment of the 16th–17th centuries' (market stalls, paved street surfaces, craft workshops/workbenches, layout of an urban homestead), visitors will be immersed in the atmosphere of pre‑Petrine Rus'. The exhibition will illuminate many aspects of everyday life of Pskov residents in the 16th–17th centuries, showing both elements of Pskov's distinctiveness and uniqueness, as well as all‑Russian specifics.
