Exhibition 'History of the Usinsk Region'
About exhibition
The local history museum presents a permanent exhibition for visitors that tells the story of the formation and development of the youngest sub-Arctic city in the Komi Republic - Usinsk. The exhibition is divided into three sections: 'Usinsk - the oil capital', 'Wildlife of the Usinsk district' and 'Reindeer herding in the Usinsk district'. An authentic chum (reindeer herder's tent), a reindeer herder's outfit, 32 taxidermy specimens of northern wildlife, vials of oil, oil workers' hard hats that visitors can try on, samples of rocks and minerals, and photographs of people who made significant contributions to the development of all aspects of life in the young sub-Arctic city - this is by no means a complete list of the exhibits in the museum's permanent display. Guided tours provide a comprehensive overview of the topics of the three sections and of the exhibition as a whole.
