Exhibition 'History of Firearms and Cold Weapons from the 14th Century to the Present'
About exhibition
The permanent exhibition 'History of Firearms and Cold Weapons from the 14th Century to the Present' opened on February 23, 2015 in the museum's helmet-shaped building. It features thousands of unique weapon specimens. Modern multimedia complexes—virtual 'storytellers', three-dimensional images of weapons and their components, electronic exhibit descriptions, an 'Encyclopedia of Weapons', VR and AR technologies, and combat vehicle simulators—help visitors explore the museum's collection. The installations create a sense of presence in a 19th-century weapons factory workshop, in a World War I trench, and at the Sary Gor border post, where you can 'fire' a real Maxim and hold rifles, revolvers, automatic weapons and machine guns. The multimedia complex 'Imagine Yourself' lets visitors take a photo in the costume of a rifleman, a grenadier, or a marine and immediately send it by email. For children there are play areas, interactive zones and even a tour with the robot guide Akinfiy.
