Exhibition 'The History of Stavropol: From the Past to the Future'

About exhibition

The exhibition is located under old stone arched vaults in the basement level of the museum-reserve building. The core of the exhibition consists of accurate scientific information materialized in originals and exact replicas of objects, photographs and documents. In addition, visitors will be presented with two original models that show the city's origins in deep antiquity and its founding in 1777. It is no coincidence that Stavropol is called the gateway to the Caucasus. A road linking Saint Petersburg and Tiflis passed through the city. Statesmen, military figures, writers, poets, composers and other notable people from Russia and Europe travelled along it. All of this is clearly reflected in the new exhibition. During the Soviet and post-Soviet periods Stavropol not only retained but also increased its economic and cultural significance. This section of the exhibition is presented using new information technologies.
