Exhibition "History of Novosibirsk Oblast"
About exhibition
The exhibition occupies seven halls on the museum's ground floor. Its main idea is to provide a comprehensive picture of the region's development and formation: from the Russian opening up of Southern Siberia to the Khrushchev Thaw of the 1950s–1960s. The museum's halls reflect key events of both national and local significance and demonstrate aspects of everyday life and the impact of wartime. Particular attention is paid to the region's notable natives and residents. On display are personal belongings and photographs of engineer Nikolay Tikhomirov, educator Klavdiya Polyanskaya, Hero of the Soviet Union Georgy Baydukov, architect Andrey Kryachkov, three-time Hero of the Soviet Union Alexander Pokryshkin, academician Mikhail Lavrentyev, and others. The exhibition includes the following halls: "Opening up of Southern Siberia", "Novo-Nikolaevsk — Novosibirsk. 1893–1926", "The First Soviet Five-Year Plans", "Novosibirsk Oblast during the Great Patriotic War. 1941–1945", "A Time of Great Hopes".
