About exhibition

More than 500 documents and photographs, personal belongings, samples of industrial goods and agricultural implements, weapons, items of equipment and tools have been selected for display. In the 'Pre-revolutionary Period' section, of interest are a map of arable lands, a results table and prize fund for horse races, the interior of a room from an urban merchant's house, samples of brick and roof tiles, documents and photographs on the operation of starch and glue factories, and the development of railway lines. Documents and the uniform of a member of the Kabardian Regiment of the Caucasian Native Cavalry Division, a Red Guard's uniform, weapons used by participants in the Revolutions and the Civil War, posters, a builder's outfit and a scale model of the Baksan Hydroelectric Power Station are presented. The development of culture, education, healthcare and science in the 1930s, and the celebration of the 15th anniversary of autonomy are shown through documents, photographs and personal items of the first scientists, writers, teachers, medical professionals and cultural figures: the document awarding the Order of Lenin to the republic, the scientific work 'Corn' by K. Kerefov, the concert dress and accordion of K. Kashirgova, and more. The thematic exhibition complexes of the 'Great Patriotic War' section consist of numerous original, including rare, documentary, photographic and object sources: home-front workers, the formation of the people's militia and the 115th Cavalry Division, and the heroic defense of the Kabardino-Balkarian ASSR in the autumn of 1942. Separately displayed are natives of Kabardino-Balkaria — Heroes of the Soviet Union and full holders of the Order of Glory; the Order of the Patriotic War and the Sword of Victory with which Nalchik was awarded — Nalchik being a City of Military Glory.
