Exhibition "Art of the East"
About exhibition
A special place in the Samara Art Museum's collection of Eastern art is occupied by the collections of Chinese and Japanese art. The museum also holds a rare collection of cultural monuments from the countries of the Islamic East. The original core of the collection was mainly formed by the private collection of Alfred von Vakano, which came under the administration of the Samara Society of Archaeology, History, Ethnography and Natural Science and was later transferred to the museum. The 1950s saw a significant number of acquisitions — from the State Museum of Oriental Art, the USSR Ministry of Culture, and the funds of the State Hermitage. Participants in the special military operation and their family members can visit the exhibition free of charge.
