Illustration exhibition 'The Girl and the Moon'
About exhibition
Exhibition of illustrations for the fairy tales from the second volume 'The Girl and the Moon. Magical Tales' of the trilogy 'Tales of the Peoples of Siberia'. The project is carried out by the Association for the Promotion of Culture and Art 'France–Siberia'. The illustrator is Irkutsk artist Georgy Ineshin. His works combine fairy‑tale motifs rendered in a realistic manner. The illustrations are complemented by items from the museum's collections: rare toys and ongons (shamanic spirit figures) of the peoples who have long lived near Lake Baikal. The items are made from natural materials — wood, bark, leather and fabric. They reflect the daily life and customs of the nomadic peoples of Siberia. The book presents tales of the various peoples of the multinational region, including Nganasan, Yakut (Sakha), Buryat, Dolgan, Nenets, Tofalar, Yukaghir, Tuvan, Khakas, Evenki and Russian.
