Exhibition 'Ilya and Emilia Kabakov: Monument to a Vanished Civilization'

About exhibition

The immersive installation 'Monument to a Vanished Civilization' became one of the most ambitious works in the Kabakovs' career. It was created and first shown by the artists in Palermo in 1999. The project envisions a utopian city-museum that the artists had dreamed of building for many years. It was conceived as a monument to the civilization in which they were born and spent the greater part of their lives — the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. The exhibition contains detailed drawings, plans and sketches of the unrealized all-encompassing museum. More about the exhibition — via the link.
