Exhibition 'I. Ya. Slovtsov. Heritage'
About exhibition
The exhibition project is dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the birth of Ivan Yakovlevich Slovtsov — a Tyumen local historian, ethnographer, archaeologist, founder of the Tyumen Local History Museum, and director of the Tyumen Alexandrov Real School. Ivan Yakovlevich was an avid collector. His collections of Siberian antiquities formed the basis of the Omsk and Tyumen museums. At the exhibition, every visitor will learn about the biography of Ivan Yakovlevich Slovtsov, his role in creating the first local history exhibition in the Tyumen region, and the development of Tyumen's museum work. The exhibition features a sculptural portrait of Ivan Yakovlevich Slovtsov, photographs and books related to his work in Tyumen, as well as documents on the archaeological excavations in which he participated. The exhibition is complemented by taxidermied animals (stork, cormorant and others), excavation materials (ammonite shells, a mastodon tooth, minerals, bronze ornaments and much more).
