Exhibition "The Artist and the World: Realism of the 20th Century"
About exhibition
The exhibition will introduce visitors to the work of People's Artist of the USSR V. A. Igoshev within a retrospective of Russian and Soviet art of the 20th to the early 21st centuries. The exhibits include not only the master's works but also paintings, graphics, sculptures and decorative-applied arts from the 1920s to the first decade of the 21st century from the collection of the State Art Museum, donated by patron V. I. Nekrasov. The core of the exhibition is Soviet-period painting, which remains appealing after many years. During that period artists sought to create the image of the working hero who freely realizes himself in building the new society. Painters of that era celebrated peaceful, creative labor—something people dreamed of during the years of wartime hardship.
