Exhibition "Keepers of Crafts"
About exhibition
In old times people made everything by hand, since the word "remeslo" is translated as "handicraft." The perception of folk art as predominantly peasant developed in Russia in the 19th century, when it became firmly associated with the activities of small artisans and home handicrafts. Craft fed people, clothed and shoed them. No wonder the Russian proverb says: "Craft is not a yoke — it won't weigh down your shoulders, but it will feed you." A good master must know a lot about his craft, be dexterous and attentive, while at the same time having his own individuality and uniqueness. The series of object exhibitions under the heading "Keepers of Crafts" will introduce the main crafts of the Yelnya district: pottery, weaving, wood carving, embroidery, wool felting, straw weaving, patchwork sewing, and others. Visitors will learn about the characteristics of each type. The event is held by prior arrangement by phone: +7 (48146) 4-10-68 for groups of 5 or more.
