Exhibition "Guberniya of Craftsmen"
About exhibition
The exhibition introduces visitors to the traditional folk trades and crafts of the Vyatka guberniya. For the first time in a long while, the most striking and antique examples from the museum's collection of folk crafts can be seen in one place. In total, visitors will see about 200 exhibits, many of which have not been exhibited before. Among them, of course, is Vyatka's pride — Dymkovo toys: more than 100 toys and compositions, including works by the oldest masters of the craft — Anna Afanasyevna Mezrina, Elizaveta Alexandrovna Koshkina, Elizaveta Ivanovna Penkina — as well as pieces by well-known craftswomen of the mid-20th century. The famous Vyatka kukar lace will be represented by works of the lace-makers of the Vyatka provincial zemstvo and the artisans of the Artel named after March 8. Visitors will see over 50 masterpieces of the lace craft: doilies, pelerines and shawls, edging and measured lace. The exhibition will also feature items made from pine root, a material first used on Vyatka soil. On display are also gypsum (plaster) works by the legendary Vyatka masters I.P. Karavaev and K.N. Isupov, straw and birch-bark items, burl boxes, wood carving and much more.
