Exhibition «City Route. Children's World»
About exhibition
The series of nostalgic exhibitions “City Route” presents the history of Zelenograd — the only satellite city of Moscow and a center of microelectronics. The exhibitions are arranged as a journey along the route taken by the city's early builders from Kryukovo railway station to the first urban development sites located at the 41st kilometer of the Leningrad Highway. Along this route were built objects significant to the city, such as the first canteen, later the grocery store “Beryozka”, the first shopping center, the ensemble of Yunosti (Youth) Square, the shops along Central Avenue, and the first higher education institution specialized in the new industry — the Moscow Institute of Electronic Technology. These places became fixed in Zelenograd's toponymy as the names of bus stops, and the same names are used for the exhibition’s sections. For convenience, all exhibitions in the project are divided into four large blocks: the pre-Zelenograd period, the design and construction of the new city, microelectronics, and the “local object” located on Central Avenue. The current exhibition in the project is titled “City Route. Children's World”. The section devoted to the “local object” introduces not only the children's goods store that opened in the stylobate of the 17-story tower on Central Avenue in Zelenograd in 1973, but—following the title of the second part of the project, “Children's World”—also the world of children in Zelenograd.
