Exhibition 'Factory-Town'
About exhibition
The main exhibition tells the story of Votkinsk, which is closely linked to the history of the plant. Its roots go back to the 18th century. Visitors learn about the traditions, holidays and everyday life of Votkinsk workers, merchants and the town's intelligentsia. Rare household items, musical instruments, books, photographs, paintings and sculptures present the unique culture of the factory-town from its founding to the end of the 20th century. One of the main exhibits is the authentic first piano of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (Wirth firm, St. Petersburg, 1843). The museum's exhibition also features a unique model made by Votkinsk craftsmen for display at the All‑Russian Art and Industry Exhibition of 1896 in Nizhny Novgorod. It was held in the Kunavino area of Nizhny Novgorod. For the opening of the exhibition, the plant prepared a detailed model that became a unique exhibit in the factory's pavilion. The model is unique in that it records, with documentary accuracy, all the plant's production premises and their arrangement relative to one another. Even the labels on the workshops, typed on a typewriter, have been preserved. Despite all the political and economic upheavals of the first quarter of the 20th century, the model survived. It is currently on permanent display. To book a tour call: 8(34145) 5-15-93.
