Exhibition 'The Main Character of Vasily Belov's Works'
About exhibition
On display are works by the winners of the drawing contest 'The Main Character of V. I. Belov's Works'. Among the exhibition's characters are the dog Malka and the cat Ryzhko from 'Tales of Various Creatures', Katyusha and her brother Anton from 'Katyusha's Little Rain', Ivan Afrikanovich Drynov from 'A Habitual Matter', the old collective farmer Egorych from 'The Dawns Are Kissing', the boy Pavlunya from the story 'Starlings', and many other well-known characters from Vasily Belov's works. The exhibition is complemented by wooden sculptures by the artist Alena Valkova from the Arkhangelsk region. Familiar images — the okhlupen, the traditional topper of wooden houses in the North, and the bolshukha, which the author wrote about respectfully — echo the characters and themes of the famous writer's works.
