The museum's exhibition familiarizes visitors with the genealogy of the famous Russian writer A.P. Gaidar, whose works helped raise more than one generation of adolescents. Here you will learn that A.P. Gaidar (Golikov) was not only a journalist and writer, but also a talented military figure from an old noble family closely connected with the illustrious families of Lermontov, Bazhov and the Strugatsky brothers. Having begun military service at age 14, he rose to the rank of regimental commander and at 37 gave his life for the liberation of the Motherland from the Nazi occupiers. Manuscripts, photographs and personal items donated to the exhibition by the Gaidar family tell of his unforgettable childhood years spent in Arzamas, his studies at the Arzamas Real School, and fully reveal the rather complex fate of the writer. Only here will you be able to see the leather cigarette case, mouthpiece, handkerchief, pencil and a small wooden plaque with an inscription left by the writer in his final days.
