Exhibition of works by Gennady Stepanovich Raishev (1934–2020), dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the artist's birth. An original, unique painter and graphic artist of the contemporary era, an experimental artist and a vivid representative of the avant-garde, Gennady Stepanovich was one of the first to turn to the archaic traditions of the North and to the use of signs in the depiction of form, color, and space. In his innovative searches, rejecting conventional classical dogmas, he synthesized the latest movements of 20th-century art and explored the deep Siberian roots of life. His work harmoniously combines philosophical ideas, an intuitive sensitivity to nature, and a profound connection with the cultural memory of his ancestors. Perceiving the surrounding reality through color, symbol, and the music of nature helped him create a unique artistic style. The exhibition presents more than 50 works of painting and graphic art created at different stages of the artist's creative path toward his own visual system — from plein air paintings and linocuts of the 1950s–60s to iconic and abstract compositions. Many of them are the author's seminal works. Collected together, they form an impressive mosaic of the diversity of Siberian life and the creative legacy of the Master.
