Exhibition "Filimonovo — the Birthplace of the Filimonovo Toy during the Great Patriotic War (World War II)"
About exhibition
The exhibition is dedicated to a unique chapter in the history of folk art and to the memory of the women artisans of the village of Filimonovo who, despite the harsh conditions of wartime, preserved and continued the traditions of their craft. The exhibition will feature paintings by artists from Tula that immortalize the images of women artisans who became widows during the 1941 occupation. These works convey not only artistic value but also historical memory, allowing visitors to see the events of that time through the eyes of the artists. In addition to paintings, visitors can view rare exhibits: the artisans' personal belongings, their awards, surviving documents and archival photographs. Each item on display tells of the difficult fates of people who endured the war and of the significance of the Filimonovo toy as a symbol of resilience and cultural heritage. The exhibition provides a unique opportunity to connect with the history of folk art, immerse oneself in the atmosphere of the past and honor the memory of those who preserved the traditions of Filimonovo toy-making through their labor and talent.
